EDRIN is the group of independent, solution driven, not-for profit research organizations with a substantial role in defence research and development as part of a broader research portfolio.
EDRIN has been founded in 2019 by a core group of six members. Together, these six founding partners make up the steering committee and lead the upcoming growth process of the network.
The six founding members are:
- TNO (Netherlands)
- Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (Germany)
- FOI (Sweden)
- VTT (Finland)
- CEA (France)
- ONERA (France)
Since its introduction at the High-Level Defence Event of the Finnish EU Presidency in October 2019, EDRIN has expanded its activities and outreach across Europe to ensure broad representation.
As part of this effort, three additional members joined the network in 2022, bringing the total membership to nine organizations:
- CERTH (Greece)
- INOV (Portugal)
- BPTI (Lithuania)
EDRIN continues to grow as a dynamic and inclusive platform, promoting cooperation among RTOs with strong capabilities in defence research and innovation from across the European Union.
